“We are very proud. This year, our annual scientific meeting took place successfully. The entire speaker and moderator of the symposium and workshop could be present and the event went according to plan, “according to the Head of the Department Internal Medicine, Faculty of medicine, Universitas Indonesia – Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Dr. dr. H. Imam Subekti, Sp.PD, K-MED at the end of the Internal Medicine 2013 Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT IPD 2013).
Annual event which held for 4 days was attended by 1645 participants from various regions in Indonesia. This number has doubled from the previouss year’s meeting. As said by Iris Rengganis, MD as the Chairman of the Steering Committee, this success was come from careful planning during the past year in choosing the right time and place as well as the hard work of the entire committee of PIT IPD 2013). There was no obstacle in this year’s annual event.
For 18 years, PIT IPD has been held annually by Yayasan Memajukan Ilmu Penyakit Dalam (YMIPD) along with Continuing Medical Education Faculty Of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia aimed to improve the competence of Indonesian doctors in accordance with the demands in medicine in order to providing better health services.
Seventeen workshops have been held in the PIT IPD 2013 includes Hands on Workshop and Dry Workshop, six video presentations about How the Expert Work, two public lectures and 14 symposia, each of symposium consisted of three presentations. Ten workshops were held at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital from October 24-25, 2013. The entire symposium and seven other workshops held at Ritz-Calton Mega Kuningan on October 26-27, 2013.
Participants who attended the previous year’s meeting certainly feel the change in the “Meet the Expert” Session. There was only expert discussion in the previous year. In this year, there was also accompanied with the video presentations about “How the Expert Works”. Em Yunir, MD, as the Chairman of the Scientific Section of PIT IPD 2013 said that this change aims to facilitate the participants to understand the common procedures in Internal Medicine.
Cardiology Division also participated in PIT IPD 2013 by holding 4 workshops. There were echocardiography, electrocardiography, lipids, and acute coronary syndrome. Cardiology division also contributed in one “How the Expert Work” session. In this session, we showed the handling procedures early in acute coronary syndrome. We also contributed at the symposium on hypertension, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular geriatrics.
